An informed citizenry is the greatest fear of any Government.

The Denver Post put out an article today entitled “One man’s criticisms of health reform stir the debate” written by Michael Booth.  Michael contacted me via twitter and I direct messaged him with my email address in his request to ask me some questions for an upcoming article.  He sent me the questions which were very fair and I responded to them.

I have to say that I am wary of any one in the media asking me for an interview.  I’ve had several requests and for the most part those requests were for an article which would be used to try to discredit me.

Well, Michael Booth did what I think most reporters have forgotten to do.  Write an article that is fair and balanced; an article which represents the whole rather than an agenda.

Michael Booth, for the most part, has done just that.  Michael, congrats on a great, well written, balanced article.

I have several points of clarification for the readers of the article that can help them further their understanding.

  • Patients First is a project of  Americans for Prosperity. Phil Kerpen from AFP was referencing an analysis of a chain email going around using altered versions of my health care tweets.  You can view AFP’s analysis here – AFP’s Health Care Breakdown Analysis

  • It’s interesting to note that AFP concluded the following in their analysis – Of the 47 total claims that were offered from the first 495 pages of the 1018 page bill, Patients First finds:
    • 25 to be TRUE
    • 18 to be a PARTIALLY TRUE
    • 4 to be FALSE

  • My original post dated on July 19th of my health care tweets can be found here – The HC Monstrosity- All 1,018 Pages.  And to validate when I 1st started tweeting about the Health Care Bill here is a screen shot of Twitter Search – Fleckman’s HC Tweets.  You can see at the bottom that I started on July 16th, 2009 at 9:06 p.m. GMT. Any variations of my tweets on health care can be traced back to my original if you wish to do so.

  • As for the mass chain email and the differences between them you can see my discussion in full here – Game On Liberals, Obama, and Congress. You can click on the link here that analyzes one liberal blogger’s failed attempt at using the mass chain email to try to discredit me.

So, hats off to Michael Booth and the Denver Post for writing a really good article.  I know it’s tough to include everything in an article that’s needed to lay out all of the information needed for the reader to thoroughly understand everything.  In discussing health reform, it’s damn near impossible.

My original tweets on health care were signs and pointers on the monstrosity of the Obama Administration and Congress’ health care bill.  It was and is meant to encourage regular citizens to read and study the bill in it’s entirety like I did and discuss it thoroughly.  Congress and the Administration never did, so it’s up to the heart of this great U.S.A. – We the People.

One person CAN make a difference.
