Check the Person Who Checks Facts
In my previous post – Game On Liberals, Obama, and Congress!!! I revealed to you that I would come back to Ms Jennifer Tolbert. True to my word I am doing just that. Politifact decided to check a mass/chain/spam email on health care which the mentioned me and tried to cleverly link me to the HC bill to this mass/chain/spam email. You can read my response to Politifact here – “Politifact Checks a Chain Email, I Check Politifact”.
In Politifact’s article, written by Angie Drobnic Holan, they decide to use Ms. Tolbert to check the “facts” of the chain email. Ms. Holan makes sure to note:
“…we consulted with Jennifer Tolbert, an independent health care analyst at the Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonpartisan foundation that studies health care reform.”
Well let’s take a look at Jennifer Tolbert from the Kaiser Family Foundation and see just how independent she and how nonpartisan the Kaiser Foundation is.
Ms. Tolbert’s role at the Kaiser Foundation can be found here – Biography. Pay particular attention to “Principal Policy Analyst at the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, a major initiative of the Kaiser Family Foundation”
Next, let’s take a look at Ms Tolbert’s boss – Ms. Diane Rowland. You can find out more about Ms. Rowland here – Biography. We find out Ms Rowland is “Executive Vice President of the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and
the Executive Director of the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured.”
So now you see that not only do Ms. Tolbert and Ms. Rowland work closely together, they do so at the upper echelon of the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Not only is Ms Rowland part of the inner circle at the Kaiser Family Foundation, she also happens to have enthusiastically supported the Left during the 2008 elections. She generously gave to Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Judy Feder, Mary Landrieu, Nancy Boyda, and Emily’s List. You can find out that besides 2008, Ms. Rowland has been active for the Left in other election cycles as well - here.
Wait, did I say Ms Rowland gave to Emily’s List? Why yes I correctly did say that. Emily’s List happens to be “an abortion rights advocacy organization that seeks to elect female candidates to office.” Additionally, who who would come to serve as Obama’s Director of Communications? Why none other than Executive Director of Emily’s List – Ellen Moran. Shhhhh, don’t tell anyone but Ms. Moran’s accomplishments include – directing “independent expenditures for the Democratic National Committee in the 2004 election” and running “a $50 million issue advocacy campaign for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2000.” You can read all about this here at The Hill.
So let’s go on to the Kaiser Family Foundation. First, one merely has to take a look at Kaiser Health News to see how they lean strongly to the left; but you be the judge.
Next let’s ask ourselves why Kaiser Family Foundation is sponsoring a speaking engagement by Sen. Max Baucus in which he predicts that we’ll get “near universal coverage” for health care. You can read all about it here – Baucus Forecasts “Near Universal Coverage”.
Finally I’ll point you to the “Health Chairs at the Helm: Changing the Way We Do Business” meetings which were held June 18-20, 2008 in Washington DC. These meetings were made possible by a partnership between the National Conference of State Legislatures and the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.
Who were some of the people at those meetings? Why none other than a group of Democratic chairs of health related committees in Congress and, you guessed it – Ms Rowland and Politifact’s independent health care analyst – Ms Jennifer Tolbert.
There’s only one thing left to do about Politifact’s Ms Holan stating that they had an independent analyst:
