The Real Reason for the Tea Party Protest
President Obama gave a speech at Georgetown today that illustrates beautifully the real reason for over 500 Tea Party Protest events across the USA. I haven’t watch any video or listened to any radio in regards to his speech today. The only thing I did was access the full content of his speech via HuffPo here. I’ve been thinking about writing a post about the Tea Parties for a day or so and I do have to thank POTUS for helping me illustrate the real reason. So let’s dive in with some analysis of what POTUS says and what’s reality!
Keep in mind what POTUS sd in the beginning of his remarks: ” I want to update you on the progress we’ve made, and be honest about the pitfalls that may lie ahead.”
I could spend several posts on POTUS’ revisionist remarks of how we all got here. I won’t. So let’s start with the “progress” he talks about.
POTUS: “This is the situation we confronted on the day we took office. And so our most urgent task has been to clear away the wreckage, repair the immediate damage to the economy, and do everything we can to prevent a larger collapse. And since the problems we face are all working off each other to feed a vicious economic downturn, we’ve had no choice but to attack all fronts of our economic crisis at once.”
The most urgent task that POTUS talks about has been pushed aside. The wreckage is still there along with a completely disorganized “attack” on all fronts of our economic crisis. Irresponsible spending on Infrastructure, Healthcare, Energy, & Education does absolutely zilch in providing immediate economic stimulus to our great country. But let’s take a look at examples POTUS specifically provided.
POTUS: “And my administration and Congress boosted demand by passing the largest recovery plan in our nation’s history. It’s a plan that is already in the process of saving or creating 3.5 million jobs over the next two years.”
You’re absolutely right Mr. President – You and the Democratic Majority Congress passed the largest spending bill ever in our nation’s history. You did it without reading the bill at all and without any measure of bipartisanship you talked about so much. I do have a hard time with you saying that the plan is already in process of saving or creating 3.5 million jobs. Have you checked the job loss reports lately? Unemployment is only growing and is projected to grow well through 2010. That process of yours doesn’t look like it’s working so well sir.
POTUS: “Now, some have argued that this recovery plan is a case of irresponsible government spending; …. So let me tackle this argument head on.
To begin with, economists on both the left and right agree that the last thing a government should do in the middle of a recession is to cut back on spending. You see, when this recession began, many families sat around their kitchen table and tried to figure out where they could cut back. So do many businesses. That is a completely responsible and understandable reaction. But if every family in America cuts back, then no one is spending any money, which means there are more layoffs, and the economy gets even worse. That’s why the government has to step in and temporarily boost spending in order to stimulate demand. And that’s exactly what we’re doing right now.”
Mr. President, please don’t insult the intelligence of Americans. You know damn well that economists on both the left and right DO NOT agree at all. I know it’s hard with 500 yes men/women advisors around telling you that your right, but come on – stop the BS. You’re embarrassing yourself.
So you’re also now blaming Americans for the possibility of why your plan won’t work? Because we’re actually doing the responsible thing of sitting at the kitchen table and assessing our financial situations to see where we can cut back so that we can continue to live appropriately? Sir – You and Congress should have been sitting at your tables along time ago. If you had, you probably wouldn’t be losing OUR money left and right on companies like GM and AIG or letting companies like Goldman Sachs double dip into OUR pockets.
POTUS: “As I will discuss in a moment, the key to dealing with our deficit and debt is to get a handle on out-of-control health care costs – not to stand idly by as the economy goes into free fall.”
Wait, didn’t you say in the beginning of your speech that the housing market started it? I’m pretty sure health care costs didn’t bring down our financial markets sir. Maybe you’re talking about the out of control healthcare costs of the unions and how that was a major factor in the auto makers going down. That and you prolonging what we knew all along. GM, Chrysler, and some of the financial institutions should’ve have been in bankruptcy along time ago. I could go on and on with all the inaccuracies of your speech Mr. President but let’s not. Let’s end the analysis of your speech with this little gem:
POTUS: “So all of these actions – the Recovery Act, the bank capitalization program, the housing plan, the strengthening of the non-bank credit market, the auto plan, and our work at the G20 – have been necessary pieces of the recovery puzzle.”
Mr. President, I’m beginning to seriously entertain the prospect that your living in your own little reality. The Recovery Act – Just ask Japan and Great Britain how irresponsible spending worked for them. The bank capitalization program – has done nothing. Credit is still pretty much frozen. The housing plan – yeah I can see the millions of people rushing to buy a house. Strengthening of the non-bank credit market – Tell that to American Express, Visa, and Mastercard who are sitting on billions of unsecured assets that are starting to default right now. The auto plan – LMAO! Let’s see billions of dollars of OUR money wasted and GM & Chrysler close to bankruptcy. Your work at the G20 – Ahh Mr. President – You accomplished nothing of any value in relation to our recovery. So what’s really puzzling Mr. President is your utter ignorance of the reality around you. You and the Democratic Majority Congress are out of touch.
Which brings me to the reason for this post. See, Americans are tired of the Government ( YOU & CONGRESS) of insulting us and playing us for some bunch of morons. We’re tired of you taking OUR money and doing with it as you please and pretending your doing it for the people. We know what you are up to Mr. President. We only have to read Bastiat’s “The Law” to understand exactly what you are doing.
So here’s the deal Mr. President – We, the People of this Great Country(your Employers) are telling you and Congress to stop. Wake the hell up and get a clue.
The Tea Party Protests – all 500+ of them – are about less spending and less government. You’ll find that out tomorrow.
As you watch Americans TELLING you and Congress, not asking keep the following in mind:
We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Read it again Mr. President. See – you didn’t endow us nor did Congress endow us.
Our Creator endowed us.
See, the American People don’t need you & Congress sir. You need us.
